From Knowledge to Practice: Mainstreaming Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Nature-Based Solutions for Adaptation
In Ottawa and online
October 19, 2023
About
Nature-based solutions (NbS) designed to be responsive to intersectional gender differences present an opportunity to address climate change adaptation needs. Gender-responsive NbS can help to address underlying vulnerabilities to climate change, enabling populations who face socio-economic, cultural, and political barriers to build their adaptation capacity, realize their rights, and participate in adaptation decision-making while also building the resilience of local ecosystems that sustain their livelihoods.
On October 19, we will join forces with Aga Khan Foundation Canada to examine how to design and implement NbS that consider gender equality and social inclusion through presentations, a “fireside chat” panel discussion, and a moderated Q&A, followed by interactive discussion groups both online and in person. This event will be followed by a meeting of the Nature-Based Solutions for Climate and Biodiversity Community of Practice, organized by Global Affairs Canada and the steering committee of the Community of Practice.
A full agenda and speakers will follow soon.
