International Development Week | Climate Day

IN OTTAWA AND ONLINE

February 9, 2024

About

During International Development Week, Global Affairs Canada organized the Nature-Based Solutions for Climate and Biodiversity Community of Practice (CoP) and the Partnering for Climate (P4C) initiative’s Annual Learning and Sharing event. The event focused on Indigenous perspectives in relation to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)’s Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions . The event also included presentations from five Partnering for Climate projects as well as the NCAI and the Nature-based Solutions for Climate Adaptation: Monitoring and Impact Evaluation (NAbSA) project, along with an interactive marketplace to network with CoP members.

This event was preceded by a discussion on financing to strengthen climate resilience organized by Global Affairs Canada. Through this event, partners shared perspectives on how insurance and other financial resilience mechanisms could be best structured and targeted, as well as explored the complementarity of other tools that support resilience, such as financial and social systems.
